Celebrating creativity in older age

Course for parents of teens

Connecting with your teenager, negotiating rules and managing conflict are some of the topics in a two-day course on Parenting Teenagers, which starts on Saturday in the Clarion Hotel, Liffey Valley, Dublin. Run by Help Me To Parent, the second day will be held three weeks later, on May 23rd, in the same venue. Both sessions last from 9.30am to 4.30pm and the cost is €295 per person, or €490 per couple. Exhibition of OT equipment

An exhibition of occupational therapy equipment will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday in the Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny as part of the annual conference of the Association of Occupational Therapists. Hoists, beds, children’s play and learn products and other specially adapted domestic equipment will be on show. Admission is free. See also www.aoti.ie.

Guillain-Barré Syndrome talk

Patients, professionals, carers and friends of those with Guillain-Barré Syndrome will talk about this acute nerve pain and muscle weakness condition on Wednesday, May 6th at 6pm in the Ashling Hotel, Dublin.

This informal event will be followed by a public talk by Dr Angela McNamara, consultant in rehabilitative medicine on her own experience of the condition. Admission is free. More details on: 087-2655261

Prevention of self-harm walk

Pieta House, the community centre for prevention of self-harm and suicide, is holding a five kilometre fundraising walk/run in the Phoenix Park on Monday, May 4th.
