Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?

I’m trying to be healthier. I was always involved in sport – football, hurling, golf and soccer – but then you get engrossed in a career and you chase after it and suddenly the years go by. In recent months though I’ve taken up cycling.

How often do you exercise?

My weekends are banjaxed, so I’m usually off on Monday and Tuesday. I’m trying to do a mixture of cycling in Clare on Monday and Tuesday and then in Dublin, I try to walk every day.

Do you get your five a day?

I’m working towards it. I’m lazy, so I get these plastic containers with the fruit all chopped up. I’d eat veg every day – it’s the junk food I need to cut out. If I’m filming somewhere and I’m coming back late at night and tired, I might pull into a garage and get a bottle of Coke and a bar of chocolate rather than fruit.

Do you worry?

I try not to. I’m good under pressure. I suppose we all worry about family and career and things, but I’m pretty good overall at coping with stress. I have an attitude that life is for living and I try and live everyday as much as I can.

What do you do to relax?

I enjoy socialising and meeting people, I’ve always loved dancing and I’d love to dance a lot more. A bit of set dancing does nobody any harm, but women today, they just don’t know how to jive!

I sometimes play five-a-side soccer with a group of lads from work. There’s a part of me that would still love to play with the junior B team down at home. I still think I’m 18!

What’s your unhealthiest habit?

I don’t smoke, so I suppose it’s the cans of coke and the chocolate when I’m driving or watching TV late at night instead of going to bed and getting up early.
