Caroline Morahan, Actress And Focus Ireland Ambassador
Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
I think so. In the Irish context, I would have an extremely healthy lifestyle, but over here in LA, I’d probably be under average. People take it to the nth degree here. I use only alternative medicine. I’ve only taken antibiotics once in 15 years. I go to a homoeopath and a herbalist. I’d be a believer in trying to stimulate the body to heal itself. I’m lucky that my mom is an acupuncturist too.
How often do you exercise?
Several times a week – whether it’s a hike in the hills here with my dog, classes in the gym or yoga. I definitely do something at least five times a week.
Do you get your five a day?
Yes. When I cook myself, I’d have a good mix of green vegetables and I juice a lot here. In Ireland, I’m totally spoiled and my mom cooks. She cooks only organic vegetables and meat.
Do you worry?
I think worry is the worst thing anyone can do and it’s something I would be guilty of. I know that if I haven’t been exercising or if I’ve slacked on yoga, I would worry more. When I do something active, it calms the mind. I’m looking into transcendental meditation. I find that once you quieten the mind, everything else works well.
What do you do to relax?
I love eating; a big part of our chill-out is to go for long leisurely brunches. I love watching a movie or going to the beach but the number one relaxer would be my dogs.
What’s your unhealthiest habit?
I crave sugar after a meal. I try to be healthy about it and have a square of dark chocolate. I eat splurgy food when I’m overtired or hung-over.
