A doctor who failed to reveal key information to the Medical Council has been found guilty of professional misconduct on three counts.

The inquiry heard that Dr Gregory Lowe failed to tell the Medical Council that he was the subject of a disciplinary process in Canada or that he had given an undertaking regarding his right to practise when applying to renew his registration in Ireland.

He also failed to properly notify the Medical Council that in November 2014, for a time, his registration with the regulatory body in Ontario, Canada, was suspended.

Dr Lowe, who was not at the disciplinary inquiry in Dublin, qualified as a doctor in Ireland in 1990. The inquiry heard on Wednesday that concerns were raised regarding his communication skills in 2011, while in Canada. He was asked to complete a programme in communications and, in November 2012, he gave an undertaking that he would complete it.
