The annual Classic and Vintage Motor Show takes place on Sunday in Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross, Dublin, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds from the day will go to the hospice and last year £21,000 was raised on the day.
Hundreds of cars will be on display including Farraris, Fords, Maseratis, Morris Minors, Jaguars, and Jensens. There will also be a bike display, bands, side shows, club stands and automobilia. The Nickelodeon Red Hot Lobster Tour will be on hand with a series of live stage shows and during the day children will have a chance to get on stage and play games to compete for the Nickelodeon Golden Claw trophy. The Education Team of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is offering a one-week, Department of Education approved, in-service course, specifically designed to help primary school teachers and principals deal sensitively and appropriately with pupils who may be at risk due to sexual abuse.
The five-day course Child Sexual Abuse: Issues And Counselling Skills For The Teacher is participative in approach, costs £60 and begins on Monday August 24th in the Rape Crisis Centre, 70 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2. The Milton Education Awards for Nurses were launched in 1985 to encourage further educational projects and study programmes among the nursing staff in Irish hospitals. This year's prize fund is £3,000.
Participants are invited to write an essay of 500 words outlining reasons for their chosen course of study and its professional benefit. Judging will be by a panel of senior nursing staff and the winners will be announced in September. Tirim is a national information service for people with bladder control problems, a condition which affects a quarter of a million people in Ireland. The service offers information to people with bladder control problems and aims to raise awareness of the condition thus enabling sufferers to feel more confident and encourage them to seek help and talk to their doctor.
