A public health alert has been issued over the safety of mussels, oysters, clams and other shellfish from the Wexford Harbour area.
The South Eastern Health Board said yesterday that toxic levels of Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) have been detected in mussels from the harbour by the Marine Institute's fisheries research centre.
