Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota was today announced as the host venue for the Ryder Cup match in 2016.
"Hazeltine National Golf Club features all the components necessary to host the Ryder Cup matches," PGA of America president Jack Connelly told europeantour.com.
Hazeltine, designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1962, will also host the final major of the 2002 season in August, the USPGA Championship.
Due to the postponement of the 2001 Ryder Cup because of the September 11th attacks, the bi-annual match between Europe and America will be held at The Belfry, England on September 27th-29th.
In 2004, one of golf’s most prestigious spectacles moves to Oakland Hills in Michigan before Ireland hosts the event for the first time at the K-Club in County Kildare in 2006.
Valhalla, Kentucky (2008), Celtic Manor, Wales (2010), Medinah, Illinois (2012) and Gleneagles, Scotland (2014) are the other venues leading up to Hazeltine.
