THE exhibition to catch this week is Harry Thuillier's Viet Nam in the Duke Gallery (see photograph, page 4). In October, Harry headed off to Vietnam with his girlfriend, Tiziana Guarnera, an old Russian motorbike and a prewar panorama camera and the photos are the result. The pieces are accompanied by text from Gabriel Rosenstock who Thuillier met when the poet came along to Harry's Arts Council exhibition two years ago.
Harry, who is the son of Harry Thuillier who fenced for Ireland and nephew of John and Nick Thuillier, the fondly remembered Graft on Street hairdressers, is very pleased with the result: "It becomes a much wider cultural thing with Gabriel's text."
His launch last night was attended by many family and friends including film maker, Aine O'Connor. Carmel White, who has been doing the PR for Harry and artist Graham Knuttel who shows in Hugh Charleton's fellow Apollo gallery.
Knuttel recently got a large commission from director John Herzfeld, who already has used two of Knuttel's paintings in Two Days In The Valley. The recent sculpture commission is for Sylvester Stallone's birthday, as the actor is a big fan of Knuttel's work.
