Macau - The Portuguese Prime Minister, Mr Antonio Guterres, yesterday praised China for its progress in human rights in contrast with Indonesia's "backward" record in East Timor.
Mr Guterres told a news conference, dominated by questions on violent crime, at the end of a visit to this Portuguese-administered territory that China's human rights progress was without parallel and China's political reforms were "internationally recognised now". Macau is due to revert to China at the end of next year.
