A gunman shot at the homes of two Limerick families within minutes of each other yesterday morning.

In the first incident, shots were fired at the front door of a house in the Craeval Park area of Moyross at 8am by a gunman armed with a shotgun. The house was occupied at the time but no one was injured.

Minutes later, more shots were fired at a house in the adjoining Pineview Gardens Estate, again at the front door. This house was also occupied at the time but no one was hurt.

Two masked youths were seen in the area at the time and gardaí were last night appealing for witnesses to both shootings to contact them. The latest shootings and a gun attack in April are linked to ongoing criminal feuding in the Moyross area, gardaí said.

These shootings, however, are not connected to the much publicised Ryan/Keane feud, which has claimed four lives in as many years.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Limerick man in his 20s, who sustained serious head injuries in an assault at a city pub on Saturday night, has been taken off the critical list at Cork University Hospital.
