An association representing soldiers, sailors and aircrew has questioned the economics of further barrack closures.

PDforra (Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association) is raising the issue in response to proposals to close Mullingar’s Columb Barracks, Clonmel’s Kickham Barracks and Cavan Military Post. It said the closures would take up to €8m a year out of local economies.
