London - A grandfather could be prevented from caring for his two young granddaughters after the British High Court upheld new government regulations designed to protect children from falling into the hands of paedophiles.
Mr Justice Scott Baker conceded that the "hastily drawn up" legislation had greatly distressed many families, but insisted the regulations meant the grandfather, known as Mr B, could not be formally approved as a foster parent for the girls, because he was convicted 36 years ago for having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
