A Derry doctor who was found to have been “sexually motivated” in his examination of a female patient has been suspended for nine months by the UK’s General Medical Council.
In a statement, the doctor said he would appeal the finding. Dr Lee Casey, who between 1997 and 2008 worked as a GP at the Oakleaf Medical Centre, with an address at Great James Street, Derry, was found to have acted inappropriately in carrying out a chest examination on an unnamed female patient on June 9th, 2005. The council panel, chaired by Dr Anthony Morgan, found Dr Casey placed his hands inside the patient’s bra and placed a stethoscope directly on her nipples. Two other allegations by the patient were not found to be proven by the council.
