THE Government has set in motion the process to make appointments to four Departmental Secretary posts which will become vacant in the next few months.

The Secretaries of the Department of Social Welfare (Mr Edward McCumiskey), Agriculture (Mr Michael Dowling), Environment (Mr Brendan O'Donoghue), and Enterprise and Employment (Mr Kevin Bonner), are retiring from their posts in the coming months.

It is understood that some of the retiring secretaries involved have not reached retirement age, but have completed their maximum seven-year period for which they can serve as Departmental Secretaries. The posts will be advertised shortly and filled between the end of April and July.
