The Government has allocated €5 million for humanitarian aid in Iraq.
Agencies such as the Red Cross and United Nations have been consulted by the Government, the Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr Kitt said.
The primary focus of the humanitarian assistance is "saving the lives of the most vulnerable" he said.
The €5 million earmarked for Iraq will be distributed among NGOs and international agencies.
