American golfer John Daly has withdrawn from the final two events of the year in Asia due to travel concerns.

American golfer John Daly has withdrawn from the final two events of the year in Asia due to travel concerns.

The two-time Major winner was scheduled to play in this week's Asian Open in Taiwan followed by the Hong Kong Open, but the September 11th terror attacks and the recent air crash in New York have prompted him to stay at home.

"I was looking forward to playing in both events but in the present climate I do not feel comfortable flying. I am disappointed and I must apologise to the golf fans in Asia, but I am sure that they understand my feelings," said Daly.

"When the situation has calmed down I will return to Asia, where I have enjoyed playing so many times before," he said.

The Asian Open and the Hong Kong Open - in which Paul McGinley will compete - are being jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour.
