Kilkenny’s new arrival Donal Golden was the hero of the night as his debut goal sent his former club Cobh Ramblers packing from Buckley Park this evening, only hours after making the move from the Cork side .
Golden’s first half strike was enough for Kilkenny to take the three points.
Further north at Oriel Park the hosts Dundalk were at least partly responsible for their own demise this evening, helping Sligo on their way with a John Whyte own goal after Gareth Gorman had given the visitors the lead in the 53rd minute.
Limerick beat Athlone Town 3-2 in hard fought duel at Jackman Park earlier this evening.
Athlone opened the scoring through Stephen Kelly after 25 minutes but were pegged back just before half time courtesy of Stephen O’Flynn strike.
Limerick went on to take the lead on the 70th minute after Brendan Hughes was on target but Athlone’s Kelly responded almost instantly with his second of the night.
But with the two looking like sharing the spoils, up popped O’Flynn again on the 90th minute to win it for Limerick.
