There has been an improvement in the condition of the 11-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a collision with a Tour de France cyclist last Monday.

A spokeswoman for Cork University Hospital said that nonetheless Laura Seward from Ardmore, Co Waterford, remains in the intensive care unit at the hospital. She sustained serious neck and head injuries when she was involved in a collision with Italian cyclist Frederico di Beni of the Riso Scotti team just outside Youghal last Monday. The incident is still being investigated.
