Carrickmacross town councillor Mr Vincent P. Martin, running for election in the Cavan/Monaghan constituency, today led a delegation of local representatives from both sides of the border in talks with embassy officials from Germany, Japan and Britain.

Mr Martin told ireland.comtoday: "An innovative angle with this should be to protest to Japan and Germany who send spent nuclear waste for reprocessing in Sellafield".

Mr Martin said he was calling on local representatives from along the eastern seaboard to join his campaign. Among those who attended today’s talks were representatives from Fianna Fáil, Labour, the Ulster Unionist Party and Sinn Féin.
