Caracas - Hundreds of people were stranded in the Venezuelan capital's main train station yesterday while others were unable to buy food as a 12hour general strike to press for higher private sector wages got under way. No incidents of violence were reported in the early stages of the strike, the country's first in eight years. - (AFP)
