The Gate Theatre has won this year's Critics Award at the 1997 Melbourne International Festival of the Arts. The five productions put on by the Gate - four works by Samuel Beckett and a one-man play acted and written by Donal O'Kelly - were singled out by the critics for their outstanding contribution to theatre.
