Gardaí are investigating the cause of a fire at Drogheda Borough Council last night that destroyed part of the 150-year-old red brick building.
The fire, which started around 9pm, destroyed two levels of the chambers, as well as the local authority’s housing and planning section.
No one was injured in the fire and members of the Garda Technical Bureau are examining the scene this morning.
The building is closed to members of the public today but normal service is expected to resume tomorrow at 11am.
