Gardai in Donegal were yesterday interviewing one of three suspects who attempted an armed raid at a Redcastle nightclub. After gardai arrived on the scene, the raiders took the manager hostage and sped off in his car towards Derry.

The RUC in Derry was questioning a second man arrested after stingers were used to stop the car after it crossed the Border at Muff.

Mr Colm Doherty, a member of the management team at the Bailey nightclub, was closing up with other members of staff at 3.45 a.m. on Saturday morning when they disturbed armed men hiding outside.

The three armed men then forced the management and staff back into the disco premises at gunpoint.
