Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal for assistance in their investigation into the murder of Anthony Foster a year ago this Saturday.
Mr Foster (34) was shot dead as he left his flat at Cromcastle Court, Kilmore, Dublin 5 at about 1.45pm on the afternoon of Friday, July 18th, 2008.
"Upon entering the stairwell of the flat complex, he suffered a fatal gunshot wound," a Garda statement said.
"The investigation into the shooting of Anthony is ongoing. On the occasion of his anniversary the Gardaí at Ballymun are appealing to any person who may be in position to provide information to come forward."
Mr Foster was jailed for six years in 2001 for handling cannabis resin worth £30,000 in April 2000. The court heard at that time that £20,000 found at Mr Foster's home were the proceeds of drug dealing.
He was working at that time with drug addicts at the Merchant's Quay rehabilitation project in Dublin.
Gardaí asked that anyone with information contact the incident room at Ballymun Garda station on
01 6664432 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666111.
