Gang attacks woman at knifepoint in Antrim

A woman was attacked in Northern Ireland today by a gang of men armed with a knife and a large pair of scissors.

A woman was attacked in Northern Ireland today by a gang of men armed with a knife and a large pair of scissors.

The victim was confronted in Ballymena, Co Antrim by four men as she walked along a laneway from Ballee to the Pennybridge industrial estate.

They attacked her and while she was not badly hurt, the victim was left shaken by her ordeal.

The woman was not sexually assaulted during the attack.

The men wore green waterproof jackets, back waterproof trousers and black hats. One was described as being 5ft 4ins tall and quite plump. His accomplices were taller and slimmer.

The gang fled across fields towards Ballee after the incident.

Police in Ballymena appealed for anyone with information about the attack to contact them.
