An 11 year old Galway city boy has died almost a year after he was seriously injured on a road which has claimed the lives of three pedestrians over the past two years. Jason O'Connell, from Claremont Park, Rahoon, had been in a coma at University College Hospital since he was struck by a van as he walked on a footpath with his mother on June 19th, 1996. The accident occurred on the Seamus Quirke Road, in the Westside, where locals have campaigned for more safety measures.
