Gardai investigating the attempt to smuggle arms into the State from Florida in July arrested another six men in the north Leinster area yesterday, writes Jim Cusack, Security Correspondent.

The six were taken to Garda stations in Trim, Kells and Navan, Co Meath, where six other men were already being held.

All 12 men are being held under the Offences Against the State Act, which allows their detention without charge for three days. Several houses and other properties were searched but no firearms were found.
