Lima - President Alberto Fujimori fired 10 ministers including his economy minister yesterday as the Peruvian leader entered a pre-election year facing record lows in his popularity due largely to stagnant living standards.
Mr Fujimori replaced Mr Jorge Baca with his newly appointed Prime Minister, Mr Victor Joy Way, a close ally and former head of Congress, whom analysts said would likely boost public spending while holding both posts.
