Roger Lemerre has been sacked as coach of France.
France, the 1998 World champions and 2000 European champions, suffered a humiliating first round exit at the World Cup finals last month.
Lemerre had refused to resign claiming he was not solely responsible for the catastrophic performance.
The French Football Association said today that a successor would be named as quickly as possible.
