TWO youths appeared at a special sitting of the Limerick City Court yesterday an sing out of an incident in which a trainee garda received serious injuries when he was knocked down by a stolen car. Mr Robert Kerley (17), Ballinacurral Weston, and a youth who will not be 17 until May were charged with causing criminal damage to a Garda patrol car.

Mr Kerley was remanded to St Patrick's Institution to appear at the court on Friday. The other youth was remanded in custody with consent to bail of £250 and one surety of £5,000. Judge Michael Reilly made it a condition of bail that he report daily to the Garda station.

And at a further sitting of the Limerick District Court last evening two youths were charged and remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institution to appear in court on Friday. Mr Shane Power (17), Hyde Avenue, Prospect, was charged with causing criminal damage to a Garda car. Mr David Heighton (19), Ballinacurra Weston, was charged with unlawfully using a motor vehicle.
