Four people have been killed on Irish roads so far this weekend. A man in his thirties was killed when his car crashed at Loughanboy, Kilmaine in County Mayo at around 9.30 p.m. last night.

Another man, whose age was not disclosed, was killed in a road collision near Athlone in the early hours of this morning. The incident occurred on the Ballinasloe road and is understood to have involved a single vehicle.

In the early hours of Saturday morning a female pedestrian was knocked down and killed by a car in Goresbridge, County Carlow.

Meanwhile the man in his early twenties who was killed in Mayo yesterday when his car collided with a parked lorry was named as Mr William Givens from Clogher in Westport. The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. in Hollymount.
