Four men charged in Naas court after €10.5m cannabis seizure

Four men appeared at Naas District Court last evening charged in connection with the seizure of €10.5 million worth of cannabis at two locations in Co Kildare.

Francis Delaney (35), Melrose Park, Kinsealy, Co Dublin; Martin O'Connor (45), North Great Charles Street, Dublin, and Eddie Van Boxtel (34), Sillogue Avenue, Ballymun, Dublin were all charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis for supply at Castlewarden South, Kill, Co Kildare.

They were remanded in custody until next Wednesday at Naas District Court.

Vincent Percival (33), Clongorey, Newbridge, Co Kildare is charged with the same two offences at Castlewarden South and also at Clongorey, Newbridge, Co Kildare.

His solicitor, Conal Boyce, applied for bail on the grounds that Mr Percival is the recipient of a donor kidney and requires regular hospital visits.

Insp Patsy Glennon pointed out that the value of the drug haul was significant and that he would like substantial independent bail.

Mr Percival's bond was set at €10,000 with an independent surety of €250,000.

He is also due next Wednesday in Naas District Court.
