FOUR people were in Garda custody yesterday for questioning in connection with the murder of Mr Danny Fanning, the Tipperary cattle dealer who died after being shot at his home last month.

The four - two men and two women - bring to 12 the number of people who have been detained by gardai for questioning about the murder. All four were arrested in Dublin yesterday and were being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against State Act, which allows for to 48 hours detention without charge.

A 65-year-old man, who was arrested on Saturday morning, was released without charge, as was a woman detained at the same time. One man has already been charged with Mr Fanning's murder.
