FOUR MEN appeared in court yesterday on summonses issued by gardaí investigating allegations that four motorcyclists reached speeds of 260km/h in a 100km/h zone last Saturday.
The four people whose cases were called at Ballyshannon District Court are Enda McCann (30) of Dartry View, Kinlough, Co Leitrim; Enda Connor (27) of Rathlee, Easkey, Co Sligo; John Donnelly (28) of Cloughfin Road, Sixmilecross, Co Tyrone; and Anthony McKane (39) from Ashdene, Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
All four are accused of the same offence - driving vehicles in a dangerous manner, including speeding, at Finner, Bundoran, on September 27th.
The cases were adjourned for mention again in the same court on November 7th.
Paudge Dorrian, solicitor for one of the men, Anthony McKane, said that when prosecution statements are being prepared he would expect also that the Garda manual on speed detection would be made available to the court as well as evidence of calibration of the detection equipment and maintenance and servicing of it.
Judge Kevin Kilrane said that as the cases will only be mentioned on the next date, the defendants, all of whom were legally represented, would be excused from attendance.
