A former manager with a leading development company had a book of evidence served against him in court yesterday on charges alleging he received inducements for handing out security and cleaning contracts.

Former Monarch Properties shopping centre manager, Mr Noel Byrne (53), of Avoca Villa, Avoca, Co Wicklow, faces 40 charges in connection with allegedly agreeing to receive various sums as inducements or rewards for awarding contracts at The Square, Nutgrove, and Janelle shopping centres in Dublin.

The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 1987 and 1991.

Judge Michael Connellan remanded the defendant on his own bail of £350 to appear again before the court on October 7th next for the hearing of deposition evidence.
