Forest sign McPhail on loan from Leeds

Nottingham Forest have signed Leeds and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen McPhail on a three-month loan deal.

Nottingham Forest have signed Leeds and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen McPhail on a three-month loan deal.

The 23-year-old, who played under Paul Hart when the Forest manager was academy director at Elland Road, is expected to go straight into the Reds' squad for tomorrow's Highfield Road clash with Coventry.

McPhail, who has made 95 appearances and scored two goals for Leeds, has found first-team football hard to come by since the appointment of Peter Reid as manager.

Forest also look set to sign Burnley striker Gareth Taylor after having a bid accepted for the Wales international.

"We have had a bid for Gareth Taylor accepted by Burnley subject to a medical," a Forest spokesman confirmed.

Taylor's arrival will end Hart's long-running search for a striker and will represent the ninth club of the much-travelled hitman's career.
