Germany: Germany lost one of its most eccentric personalities yesterday when fashion designer Rudolph Moshammer was found strangled in his Munich home.

Moshammer (64) was instantly recognisable thanks to his trademark jet-black helmet haircut, powdered face and his lapdog, a Yorkshire terrier named Daisy.

German media reported that Moshammer was last seen alive on Thursday evening, driving alone in his black Rolls Royce near Munich's main train station and an area known for male prostitutes.

His body was found at 9 a.m. yesterday by his chauffeur in his villa in the upmarket neighbourhood of Grünwald.

There were no apparent signs of a break-in and an initial post mortem ruled out suicide.

Moshammer was a regular on the German social and chat-show circuits but was also known for his charity work. He was interested in reincarnation and believed he had been an Indian maharajah in a previous life.

He leaves behind a fortune estimated at €25 million.
