Three goals in eight minutes set defending champions Celtic on the way to a crushing 5-0 win over Dundee United in the Scottish premier league this afternoon.

Jackie McNamara, Chris Sutton and Stilian Petrov found the net midway through the first half before John Hartson and Henrik Larsson completed the rout to seal Celtic's third win from their first three league games.

Elsewhere, Kilmarnock had three players sent off as they crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Motherwell. All the goals came after Gary Locke and Andy McLaren were sent off early in the second half. Jesus Sanjuan became the third Killie player to be dismissed five minutes from time.

Dunfermline were 4-2 winners over Dundee, while the match between Partick Thistle and Livingston finished in a 2-2 draw.
