Five men accused of mounting a "Real IRA" bombing campaign in England have had their trial date set for next January.

Five men accused of mounting a "Real IRA" bombing campaign in England have had their trial date set for next January.

Mr James McCormack (33), Mr John Hannon (19), Mr Noel Maguire (30), Mr Aiden Hulme (25), and his brother Robert are charged with conspiring together to cause explosions between January 1st and November 14th, 2001.

Mr Maguire and the Hulme brothers are also charged with unlawful posession of explosives and posessing a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver with intent to endanger life on November 14th last year.

The five are alleged to have been involved in an explosion in Ealing west London on August 3rd last year, a car bomb that was detonated outside the BBC in Shepherd's Bush, West London and an unexploded car bomb that was discovered in Birmingham on November 3rd, 2001.

The defendants were remanded in custody at the Old Bailey today and told their trial will begin on January 16th.
