FIVE people arrested by gardai in connection with the murder of a man in O'Connell Street, Dublin, have been released without charge. The five, all foreign nationals, may now leave the State.

The Assistant Garda Commissioner for Dublin, Mr Tom King, said it had been an easy investigation. "We did the right thing at the time," he said.

A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Liam Martin (23) died from multiple stab wounds at the Abrakebabra fastfood restaurant on O'Connell Street, near the Gresham Hotel.
