Five men were arrested and two guns seized by the RUC in a loyalist area of north Belfast yesterday.

The arms were found when police stopped a car on the Doagh Road, Newtownabbey. Several masks were also found. The weapons were taken away for examination.

Meanwhile, postal services in Belfast were disrupted yesterday after an alert at Royal Mail headquarters in Tomb Street.

The premises was cleared after a suspect package was discovered by sorting staff. Some 700 staff were evacuated and British army bomb experts were called to examine the package. It was later declared a hoax and taken away for forensic examination.
