Five arrested in drugs operation

GARDAI have seized heroin worth an estimated £500,000 after a raid at a premises on the North Circular Road in Dublin

GARDAI have seized heroin worth an estimated £500,000 after a raid at a premises on the North Circular Road in Dublin. A Garda spokesman said the seizure "was very significant" and had been made after a "lengthy surveillance operation". Five men have been arrested in connection with the seizure and are being held at Store Street Garda station.

One man is aged 27 and from Dublin and was arrested at the time of the seizure. The others were arrested in a follow up operation in Drumcondra and a shotgun was recovered. About 2 kg of the drug were found at the house in the operation carried out by the national drugs unit.
