Fine Gael has appointed a new political director to replace Gerry Naughton who has held the position since January 2003.
In a statement issued this afternoon, Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny announced the appointment of Michael McLoughlin as the party’s new Political Director. Mr McLoughlin will take up the position from the first of October.
“I am delighted that Michael McLoughlin is taking up this exciting, important and challenging role in the party. He brings an excellent record of achievement in business combined with strong insights into the Irish political scene,” said Mr Kenny.
Michael McLoughlin is currently chief executive of market research company Amárach Research and has been active in Fine Gael since 1982. Mr McLoughlin was a candidate for the party in the 2004 Local Elections.
