Democratic Left has condemned as "divisive and misguided" a Fianna Fail plan to assist married carers by means of tax relief only. The party leader and Minister for Social Welfare, Mr De Rossa, said the proposal ignored the needs of thousands of women who were married to social welfare recipients and thousands who lived with a taxpayer but were not married.
