Applications to collect money in cases where bail is broken are not being made by the authorities, the Fianna Fail justice spokesman, Mr John O'Donoghue, said yesterday. Last year the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court issued 189 bench warrants for defendants who broke their bail terms by not appearing in court, according to Mr O'Donoghue. The authorities applied to recover money in only one of the 189 cases and this was unsuccessful.
