VIENNA - Popular support for Austria's long standing neutrality is beginning to erode, as the country gears up for its first European Union elections.

In February last year, one month after EU membership, 80 per cent of Austrians wanted to maintain the neutrality embraced 40 years ago, but that percentage has slipped to 63 this month, according to the independent polling institute, Imas.
