Female cyclist dies on Thurles road

A female cyclist was killed in a Thurles, Co Tipperary, road incident this morning.

A female cyclist was killed in a Thurles, Co Tipperary, road incident this morning.

At about 9.50am the woman, aged in her 70s, was in a crash involving a bus at Kickham Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick, for a postmortem.

There were no passengers on the bus.

Elsewhere, another woman (23) died in hospital following a two-car collision outside Dundalk, Co Louth, yesterday morning. The crash took place at Glenmore, Riverstown at about 9.50am.

The woman, who was the driver of one of the cars, was air lifted by Coast Guard helicopter to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.

A passenger in her car and the driver of the other car were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with minor injuries.
