FAS is to spend more than £41 million on job creation, training and community development schemes in Galway and Mayo during 1996. This is almost double the amount spent in the region in 1993.
At a meeting of the FAS board in Galway yesterday the launching of new Jobstart and Workplace schemes in the region was also announced.
About 10,000 people in the two counties will participate in FAS funded schemes during the year.
