Family escapes bomb attack in Coleraine

The incident happened in Coleraine shortly after midnight when a pipe bomb exploded at the rear of the family home at Bradmar in the Heights area.

The residents, a couple and their two children aged 7 and 13, were in the house when the device exploded in the yard but managed to escape without injury.

Meanwhile, the RUC has diffused a bomb found on the Monaghan Road near Armagh city. The device, comprising 1000 lbs of homemade explosives in two wheelie bins, will be put on show later today.
