A group representing victims of IRA violence is planning a trip to the United States next week to highlight a legal action they are planning against the Libyan Government.

Members of the Families Acting for Innocent Relatives (FAIR) are to meet the families of people killed in the 9/11 terror attacks and also US Congressmen.

FAIR director William Frazer, who will be joined on the visit by colleague William Wilkinson, said: "We have been working with British and American lawyers who have worked on similar legal actions and are planning this visit to highlight in the United States what we are doing.

"Our action centres on the fact that the Libyans assisted the Provisional IRA at a time when our relatives were being murdered.

"States like Libya cannot expect to sponsor terrorists like the Provisional IRA who spread death and destruction across our land without any liability.

"They must apologise, tell the truth and accept responsibility and they must compensate the families and those left maimed and ensure that they never again sponsor terrorism."

Mr Frazer said the group hope to meet a number of US Congressmen including Jim Walsh and Richard Neal. They will leave for Washington on Sunday.
